Guests commonly praise the hotel for its spacious rooms, designed to provide a cozy retreat after a day of exploring the vibrant local area. Harry H noted that while some rooms might experience noise—especially those near the lively bar—the overall serenity of his room made for a restful night’s sleep. The hotel hints at a somewhat dated aesthetic, suggesting a need for some updates; however, the friendliness and efficiency of the staff consistently shine through, as highlighted by various reviews.
Charlotte Sperry's experience exemplifies the hotel’s pet-friendly policy, which is a delightful touch for guests traveling with furry companions. The spaciousness of her room, combined with thoughtful amenities like tea and coffee facilities and plush bathroom towels, enhanced her short stay. The minor surcharge for accommodating her Newfoundland dog was outweighed by the welcoming service from the hotel staff, making her stay a memorable one.
For those seeking a lively atmosphere, David-Ian Dawson’s comments resonate well. The presence of three bustling bars adds a vibrant edge, particularly on weekends. Yet, the hotel maintains a sophisticated air. The heartfelt service from Andrea at the front desk further enriches the guest experience, proving that attentive hospitality can elevate a stay from ordinary to exceptional.
Rockcandy Catering highlights the cleanliness and room size, noting the added luxury of both a shower and a bath—ideal for unwinding after a busy day. However, the limitations of the lift were mentioned, underscoring a potential area for improvement in guest convenience.
Dining at the on-site restaurant is yet another perk, with reviews like Mark Fenlon's revealing a satisfying breakfast selection and lively atmosphere, complemented by the friendly disposition of the staff. Robert Clayton’s experience on Valentine’s Day showcases how the hotel’s blend of modern and traditional décor creates a romantic setting, further amplified by exquisite dining options.

Rooms are relatively large. The hotel spans across and has multiple sections and steps. My room was very quiet but I would expect some to be louder especially near the bar. bathroom was ok. Service friendly and quick. The hotel is a bit dated and can do with a bit of maintenance. Floors creek a lot. Overall nice stay.
We only stayed for one night with our Newfoundland dog but will definitely be back. The room was really big with tea and coffee and a lovely bathroom with big towels. Not a single fuss was made about the dog being so large the staff on the front desk were lovely. We had to pay an extra ten pounds for the dog which bookings. com failed to mention but to be honest well worth the money. Lovely location too.
Lovely hotel located in a beautiful part of Newcastle. This hotel is quite lively at wkends due to 3 bars situated at front of the hotel but it is still sophisticated enough. Our stay was made special by Andrea (front of house lady) who went the extra mile to ensure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Would highly recommend. Only slight problem we experienced was car parking spaces - there's not enough.
Nice little hotel. Good size rooms that were spotless. Lovely to have a bath and a shower for those who enjoy a relaxing soak after work or shopping. Staff were very helpful. Only bugbear was the size of the lift, which could only fit one person and two large suitcases. If anyone had not shut the door properly on another floor the lift would be stuck there. Would recommend this hotel for leisure.
Nice comfortable double room equipped with tea/coffee making/TV and ironing. Bathroom was nice but bath was a bit small. Restaurant and bar attached with loud music but went off by about 11pm. Good breakfast -plenty of choice. Staff very friendly and accommodating.
Booked my mum in here for a couple if weeks while my dad was in nearby hospital. Unfortunately the stay turned out to be far longer but the staff at this hotel couldn't have been more fabulous. They made my mum's stay a total pleasure, checking to make sure she had everything she needed even leaving her treats in her room for when she got back from visiting my dad. Then mum ended up in hospital too and the staff sent cards and even visited her! Rooms at hotel are excellent.
We had an amazing time for our valentine's night break. The hotel was awesome, mixing modern furnishings with the period property to create a brilliant atmosphere. The room was very clean and tidy with a comfy bed. We also had a meal in the joined restaurant which was fantastic too.
